The concept of the brand is "charm is yourself.".[31][32][33]According to herself, she had always loved accessories and wanted to make something that she would like to wear. From there, her dream evolved into wanting someone other than herself to be able to pick up something she made and enjoy it. Furthermore, the person who inspired Shizuka to create accessories was Dream Aya.[34] Shizuka's affinity for accessories, particularly earrings, started due to a complex that she don't have any distinctive features, and hoping that her favorite earrings might become her signature. "I got my ears pierced right before I graduated from high school. As I was wearing them, I realized that although earrings are small things, they have great charm and power, and I started to really like them. I started buying all kinds of earrings, and before I knew it, I was bringing my own accessories to shoots and live performances." With this in mind, the brand would be genderless and could be worn by both women and men. "I hope they will give you a little bit of confidence and (be a) good luck charm."[35]

Trivia[]

  • Former Representative Number: 06
  • Former Representative Color: Blue
  • Describes herself as a tsundere type who lacks self-awareness.
  • Likes: Doing her nails, playing with machinery, collecting bags, reading, Western food
  • When she first joined dream, on July 2002, Shizuka was a supporting vocalist and backup dancer. Later on, she took dance lessons with member Erie, and subsequently, she was more recognized for her dance ability. Since Dream's rebirth in 2009 as a 6-member group, she has been featured prominently as a main vocalist alongside member Aya.
  • She is a graduate of the dance/vocal school, CALESS in Osaka.
  • She was the member with most participation on E-girls' songs until her departure from the group on July 2017.
  • She started an Instagram account on January 1, 2017.
  • The main reason why she aspired to become a professional singer was because she wanted to be someone who could convey her thoughts and feelings through music.[5]
  • Often described as a "big sister"-type and a person who is usually quiet.[37]
  • According to herself, she is not very talkative, quite shy and scared of her first impression to other people. However, challenging solo activities made her realize that she liked talking and made it easier for her to communicate with people.[37]
    • She substantiates a lack of self-confidence or embarrassment as the reasons for her shyness. "I was afraid of failing because people thought I could do everything perfectly. I didn't want to be considered a disappointment."[5]
    • According to herself, she also doesn't have the personality to take leadership roles.[38]
  • Describes herself as a person with a very negative mindset: "People tend to think of me as a positive, strong, and confident person, but in fact I am the exact opposite. I am a very negative person."[39]
    • However, she has no hesitation exposing even her negative side (to fans): "This is the real me. If people don't accept me, I'm prepared to let it end there. I want those who want to know me to get to know me in depth. I want to show them the essence, or rather, the true nature of me, not just the surface. That is why I try to write my inner thoughts without hesitation in the lyrics."[39]
    • Feels pressured by the fans' image of her as perfect and always ready to do anything. "The real me can't be positive all the time, and if anything I am negative, but I was also afraid that I would disappoint my fans if I told them that."[38]
  • According to herself, she still doesn't know her true self, but wants to seek it. "I can't help but be a mystery to myself. I think there is probably still a part of me that I don't know about. Even though we have been together for quite a long time (laughs)."[39]
  • Looking back at her career after starting her solo activities, she revealed that it was full of ups and downs. "After our debut and several years of activity as a group, we faced the fact that we were disbanding. I was at a loss when I thought that I would no longer be able to do the things I had been doing. I had a chance to meet EXILE HIRO, who would later launch LDH JAPAN, again, and he asked me, "Why don't you join LDH?", I truly believe that it was a miracle that fate brought us together. It was tough when I was confronted with the breakup of Dream, but because of that I met E-girls and was able to perform on stages and in programs that I had dreamed of. Looking back, there were many painful times, and many times I thought, "I'm going to give up" or "I may have reached my limit", but I feel very lucky that I can smile and talk like this now."[40]
  • According to herself, she "felt like she was burning out" when she left E-girls as she had realized many of the dreams she had since she was a child but lost sight of her goal for a moment after becoming alone.[37]
  • A piece of advice from a senior that stayed with her is "It is your life, so you should create it by yourself without any regrets." from EXILE HIRO.[37]
  • To the question "Have you ever lost your way or felt like your heart is about to break?" in an interview in 2020, she answered "I am always lost and I always feel like my heart is about to break. In fact, I have broken down before." Explaining further, she revealed: "There have been times when I have broken down and thought I might not be able to do it anymore. I thought about going back to my hometown many times. But each time, the people around me helped me. They have held me together. The first time was when Dream was disbanding. I was at my wits end, wondering what to do, as I had no more work starting tomorrow when a chance encounter with HIRO, who had previously performed at the same concert, led me to move to LDH. After that, when the members graduated and everyone was thinking it was impossible, EXILE ATSUSHI gave me a song as a gift with the words, "Because people can go three times as far as they thought they were at their limit." Whenever I feel down, someone is always there to see me and pull me up."[37]
    • Describes her life as "full of setbacks": "In my case, my life has actually been full of setbacks, and my heart has been broken many times and is covered with scars. But thanks to my friends and fans, I have been able to get by even if I had to crawl on my knees."[40]
  • Believes that people should be able to try anything they want to do without being limited by gender or age, and wishes that the "because I'm a 〇〇" mentality could be eliminated.[38]
    • Is particularly invested in gender equality. "I myself have been told these words (that I can't do something because I'm a woman), and there have been times when they almost stopped me in my tracks. But I was the type of person who didn't agree with that way of thinking, so I didn't let it bother me and pushed through."[38]
  • Her mentality is that "It's better to regret something I did than to regret something I didn't do", which was influenced by EXILE HIRO."The regrets of not doing something will always remain, but the regrets of trying and failing can be laughed about. That's why I do whatever I want to do!"[38]
  • Her hobbies are watching movies at the cinema and playing video games.[8]
  • Listens to a wide range of music genres such as R&B, rock, country and jazz.[5]
  • Does ego-surfing on SNS.[40]
  • Admires Crystal Kay and often attends her concerts.[40]
  • Is close with lyricist Odake Masato.[5]
