Biography[]

Early Life[]

Muto Chiharu was born on April 3, 1995 in Tokyo, Japan.

Prior to auditioning to LDH, she was a student at EXPG Tokyo.

2011[]

On July 26, during an E-Girls SHOW event at SHIBUYA-AX, it was revealed that Muto was one of the winners of the EXILE Presents VOCAL BATTLE AUDITION 3 ~For Girls~ and was added to FLOWER as a vocalist.[2] On that same day, she was also added as a member of E-girls, having a concurrent position between the group and FLOWER.

On October 12, she made her major debut as a member of FLOWER with the single "Still".

2014[]

On October 12, Muto announced her departure from both E-girls and Flower to study abroad.[1] In an interview in 2023 she described her time as a member of both groups as "performing in the best environment" and "an irreplaceable experience", and revealed that her decision to graduate came from the concern that performing arts would not be a sustainable career path she could maintain in the future. "[...] Toward the end of my teenage years, I suddenly had a thought. I had never had a part-time job, and I wondered if I would ever be able to become a proper member of society, while other young people of my generation were going through all sorts of experiences before becoming members of society.", "I can give the best performance now, but when I reach my 30s, 40s, and 50s, I realized that I will not be able to provide this quality. I saw my limits. So, instead of pushing forward in a straight line, I decided to find new possibilities for myself."[3]

On October 26, she appeared for the last time as an E-girls member on the girls' segment of EXILE TRIBE PERFECT YEAR LIVE TOUR TOWER OF WISH 2014 ~THE REVOLUTION~.

On November 13, she made her last appearance as a Flower member on the promotional release event of the group's eighth single "Akikaze no Answer".[4]

In November, Muto founded the company B-CREW Co., Ltd. in Tokyo with a capital of 5 million yen and became its representative director.[5]

2015[]

On February 16, Muto established the fashion brand BLIXZY and became the brand's creative director and model.[6] She decided on this new career path due to her interest in fashion: "I love clothes, so I thought about working at a store, but then I thought it would be fun to start my own brand."[3]

2017[]

On August 14, she announced that she would release the single "Nobody Like You" under her own independent record label B-CREW RECORDS on August 16. The single was sold only at her BLIXZY store in Harakuju. "Nobody Like You" was a cover of the song of same title by EMI MARIA.[7] Muto revealed afterwards that, despite releasing a single after 3 years, she would not have plans to work as a singer in the future.[8]

2021[]

In 2021, Muto launched the agricultural life brand ASAMAYA and was appointed as an Agricultural Life Ambassador for the city of Komoro to convey the appeal of the agricultural lifestyle and the charms of the region and farmers and to solve the problem of food loss. She later revealed that she had initially moved to Komoro, Nagano Prefecture for her grandmother, who wanted to live there as it was her hometown. However, Muto was unable to return to Tokyo after the COVID-19 pandemic started. As a result, she had a lot of free time, started growing vegetables in an open field and "fell in love with the farming life".[9]

2022[]

In 2022, Muto restarted her artist activities under the stage name "CHIHARU". On September 7, she released her first studio album why not? through crowdfunding.

In the same year, she was appointed as the Komoro Agricultural Life Ambassador.

  • According to herself, she is a very curious person who wants to try everything.[3]
    • In that vein, she never regretted graduating from E-girls and Flower, and retiring from the entertainment industry. "I never looked back. I just do what I feel is interesting at the moment. The excitement of starting something new and seeing a new landscape is greater than my anxiety. Besides, if you try it and find that it is not for you, you can always try again.
